Summer Art Camps focus on painting and drawing techniques, immersing young artists in acrylic and water-soluble oils, color theory, and brush techniques. Students bask in personalized attention with a 10/1 student/teacher ratio. Throughout the week, students create complex and beautiful paintings based on an image of their choosing. Discover a supportive summer camp environment that nurtures diverse learning styles and fosters a passion for visual arts. IMPORTANT EARLY BIRD INFO: you don’t have to choose the date of your summer camp, just put any date down you think you might want when you fill out your registration form, and we will know it is subject to change since you are using the Early Bird discount. Chris Babcock will make sure you get the week that you if you let us know by May 1st.

Capacity: Maximum 20 students
Includes: Blick Bristol Board paper (size to be selected by student), The professional quality Liquitex, Amsterdam, and Utretch acrylic paints, Blick 48-color design markers, professional quality Princeton Velvet Touch deer foot blender brushes, round short liner brushes, spotter brushes, flat angular blender brushes, and thick, cotton aprons by CALDO.
Please reserve all Early / After care at the time of registration. You must reserve at least 24 hours before the day of care. You can always come back to this page to add extra care.
Select the total number of minutes you need to reserve. After adding to cart you will be prompted with a form to list the days and times you would like allocate your purchased time.
Example: 5 days of Early Care = 150 minutes. Note the five dates in the form after adding to cart.
Early Care: $12.50 per child.
8:30 AM to 9:00 AM
Aftercare Availability: $25.00 per hour, per child. Available in 30 minute increments only.

SURFACES AND IMAGE SUBMISSION
Guardians are required to submit their child's chosen image and select their painting surface at least 5 days prior to the student’s start date. For a five-day camp, the image should not exceed 40 large and small shapes. Please have your artist choose one canvas:
Surface choices are 11 by 14, 9 by 12 or 8 by 10 inch rectangular canvases, 12 by 12 inch square canvases or heart shaped, triangle shaped, or oval shaped canvases 10 inches tall. Students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of subjects, from favorite stuffed animals and realistic figures to manga characters, animals, self-portraits, family portraits, graphic novel-style drawings, landscapes, cherished trinkets, or any combination thereof.
DAILY SCHEDULE
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Creative Drawing & Friendship-Building
Socializing and improving creative skills through a drawing/48-Sharpie color markers challenge on museum-quality Bristol board.
Campers use all 48 colors of permanent markers with no scribbling, completing their picture when no white is showing.
10:00 AM - 10:15 AM: Wacky-Snacky Time!
10:15 AM - 12:00 PM: Formal Painting Lesson
One-on-one instruction on painting techniques.
Learning to match acrylic colors, mix paints, and apply color theory.
Using a variety of professional brushes for different effects.
12:00 PM - 12:30 PM: Lunchtime: eat, socialize, and interact with therapy pugs!
12:30 PM - 2:00 PM: Continuation of Formal Painting Lesson
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Recess (optional for students with permission)
Activities at Rochambeau Park (basketball, four square, swings, play structure with wiggly bridge, monkey bars, and top floor play house.).
Students ages 10 and up who prefer to can continue painting with a teacher’s guidance at the studio.
Additional surfaces can be purchased online. If your child wishes to paint on surfaces, such as an unpainted wooden skateboard, ukulele, wooden box, or stool, please ensure you purchase the surface before the student’s start date. Your child should bring the surface to the first day of class. Please note that canvases larger than 11 by 14 inches are not permitted. It is important to order only unpainted wooden surfaces.
Additional Supplies
Campers enjoy scheduled snack and lunch breaks. At 2:00 pm, there's an optional recess at Rochambeau Park, unless a child prefers to continue painting indoors.
Lunch & Recess
Recess takes place at Rochambeau Park, 24th@California Street, three blocks up from our art studio. Children aged 10 and up can opt to stay indoors for their art lesson instead of going to recess. Please indicate this preference on the registration form. However, the studio reserves the right to require outdoor breaks if deemed necessary.
